Recent studies have proved that speaking is an essential component in the acquisition of a second language, in opposition to the old-school approach based on teaching grammar first. Students that are learning English as a second language experience a very meaningful learning process when their speaking skills are practiced regularly. In class, it is important to create moments for them to talk, interact and communicate following the first language acquisition process (modelling, repeating and communicating in context).
